Celebrated by the BBC as one of the city's top 8 literary destinations, The Urbane is more than just a venue—it's a vibrant hub for culture and creativity. Through an eclectic mix of literary launches, musical showcases, and theatrical performances, it fosters an environment rich in conversation and artistic expression.

Brittney and Joe Cooke are the driving force behind The Urbane. Brittney, with a rich background in publishing, took her love for literature and events to the next level as Executive Director of The Coffee House Club, curating vibrant gatherings that resonate with the city's artistic soul. Joe, a media professional & arts enthusiast, found more than just love when he met Brittney at a literary gala; they discovered a shared vision. Together, they've created spaces where stories come alive, most notably with their "Urbane Conspirators" series, making waves in NYC's literary scene. Their aim for The Urbane? Meld the historic charm of 1016 Beverley Road with a fresh, community-focused vibe, offering Brooklyn a space that's as dynamic as it is timeless.
